Kindergarten: We have started the year discovering our singing, whispering, shouting, and speaking voices. We will continue singing and start learning different notes to play on our classroom instruments.
First Grade: We have begun to sing and use instruments to accompany poems and stories. We will continue to learn notes and rests to compose our own rhythms on our barred instruments such as the xylophone.
Second Grade: We will perform poems, stories, games, and music demonstrating specified elements of music such as dynamics, tempo, melody, form. We will use instruments to accompany us as we learn about these different elements of music.
Third Grade: We will create whole-class and small-group compositions using specified pitches and rhythmic notation for voice and/or pitched instruments.
Fourth Grade: Fourth graders will begin studying the various composers’ music from the N. C. Symphony unit.
Fifth Grade: In fifth grade we are starting to learn “50 Nifty”! Look out it is a catchy tune!!
